Oath Continues to Support LGBTQ+ Youth with HMI
Members of Prism, Oath's LGBTQ+ employee resource group, joined the 2018 Emery Awards on Nov. 7, 2018. Oath, dubbed the "Presenting Sponsor" of this year's event, continues its ongoing partnership with the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI). More specifically, the Emery Awards celebrates the organization's mission, where partners and public figures are honored for supporting LGBTQ+ youth. Oath was a recipient of the 2017 Emery Award.
For those who are not acquainted with the organization, HMI believes all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment to achieve their full potential. HMI was the first, and for a time the only, organization that focused on assisting homeless LGBTQ+ youth by giving them a place to stay, fresh clothes, food, and access to quality education. HMI focuses on teaching those in their care that they matter, they're valued, and that their differences should be celebrated.
Many of us who attended the Emery Awards have had the privilege of volunteering at HMI through The Great Build (Oath's annual day of service), HMI's Job Readiness Program, or as individuals. Each volunteer opportunity allowed us to witness first-hand the impact the organization has made on so many. HMI and the youth it serves inspires us consistently. It's humbling and refreshing that Oath puts money, energy and resources towards HMI. As employees of Oath, we're reminded that we work in an increasingly inclusive and thoughtful workspace.
This year, Oath's studio team, in partnership with HMI and Mini, created a wonderful video highlighting emotional, vulnerable conversations with LGBTQ+ youth.
